Saturday, July 9th--Wendy's viewing is Monday night and her funeral is Tuesday morning. Before that comes much preparation. The family wanted tables filled with pictures of her and various things she loved or that we loved about her. Some of that came from her townhome. I invited myself to help Jenny and Rosemary get things done on Saturday. Going into her home, I thought it would be eerie, but it wasn't. We chose a few from the many Precious Moments figurines she loved to collect, to add to the tables. The ones we focused on were the nursing ones, as she was a nurse, and Disney ones--Disneyland seemed to be her favorite place to go on vacation to (no surprise there, yes, it runs in the family! ha ha).
Rosemary, Jenny and I spent a chunk of Saturday making various stops at stores for the proper clothing she would wear. Our religion believes we wear special clothing to be buried in. It is the clothing we also wear in our sacred temples, should we be worthy to enter the temple. Wendy did not own her own temple clothing so we set out to get what was needed. After we got everything necessary, we met Dan, Kip and Nate for lunch. Nate had dropped the kids off at Jenny's house to play with her kids. For as sad of a time it is for our family, I am still really grateful for the time we've spent together, and will continue to spend together. It seems to be bringing us closer to each other.
